Anna Melidoni, PhD - Senior Editor, BMC Series
Anna is the Editor of BMC Cardiovascular Disorders and BMC Endocrine Disorders. She studied Biology, with an emphasis on Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology at the University of Crete, Greece. During her PhD in Queen Mary, University of London she did the knockout of Flavin-containing monoxygenase 5 (Fmo5) gene of the mouse, which eventually led to the identification of Fmo5 as a regulator of metabolic aging. As a Postdoc at the Universities of Ioannina, Greece and the University of Cambridge, UK she investigated the role of cell-surface receptors (Wnt/Notch/FGF4) and adherens junctions in the fate specification of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESs) and mES-derived multipotent cardiac progenitors. In John McCafferty’s lab she also developed a mES-based phenotypic screening system for selecting antibodies affecting cell-surface receptor signalling, from large antibody phage-display libraries. Anna is committed to the open-access dissemination of robust and reproducible science that makes a valid contribution to scientific knowledge. She is based in the London office, UK.

Dr Flávio Cadegiani, MD Corpometria Institute, Brazil
Flávio Cadegiani is a board certified endocrinologist with Ph.D. in Clinical Endocrinology. His areas of expertise include adrenal disorders, obesity, endocrinology of physical activity and fatigue-related conditions. He focused his studies on fatigue-related conditions, in particular a systematic review in which he debunked the existence of a pseudo-disease termed as 'adrenal fatigue', and conducted one of the largest studies on Sports Endocrinology, named 'Endocrine and Metabolic Responses on Overtraining Syndrome (EROS) Study'. His book: 'Overtraining Syndrome in Athletes - A Comprehensive Review and New Perspectives') was recently published by Springer Nature. Currently, he is CEO and Medical Director of Corpometria Institute (Brasilia, Brazil), that together with Applied Biology Inc (Irvine, CA, USA) has lead the research on the roles of androgens and anti-androgen agents on COVID-19. He is also a regular visiting professor in FAESF (Floriano, Brazil).
