Adjusted means (±SEM) of serum OPG concentrations in subjects with NGR, IGR (isolated IFG [Iso IFG], isolated IGT [Iso IGT] and IFG/IGT) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The covariables included age, sex, BMI, current smoking, current alcohol intake, menopausal status and the family history of diabetes. Subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus and IGR (isolated IFG, isolated IGT and IFG/IGT) had higher concentrations of OPG than those with NGR (both p < 0.0001). There was no significant difference among the subgroups of IGR (p = 0.35) and between the IGR and type 2 diabetes mellitus groups (p = 0.61)
