Nelson-Aalen cumulative hazard estimates of diabetes by combined strata of body mass index and waist circumference in men (A) and women (B) from the Spanish EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) cohort. Body mass index strata (normal weight, overweight, obese) were defined according to WHO standard body mass index groups (< 25, 25-29.99, ≥ 30 kg/m2); waist circumference strata were based on the presence of central obesity, defined by a waist circumference ≥ 102 cm in men or a waist circumference ≥ 88 cm in women.
