The substitution Arg286Cys (red) was shown through homology modelling to be smaller than the wild-type Arg286 (green), which may cause loss of external interactions. The charge of the wild-type residue is also lost by this substitution, which will disturb the ionic interaction made by the wild-type residue with nearby glutamic acid residues
