Oxytocin (OT) treatment in diabetes protects against diabetic cardiomyopathy The mechanism involve direct OT effect on the heart and release of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and nitric oxide (NO) as well as their second messenger cyclic guanylate cyclase (cGMP). OT reduces fat deposits through decrease of adipocytes size and brown fat production. Adipocytes release adipokines to the circulation which are beneficial for the heart. In pancreas OT stimulates insulin release
